Put these 2 in for a friends computer that only had 256mb. Needless to say their computer was slower than molasses in canada, but after this, they have a computer again. Worked great out of the box, they came individually packed in retail packaging. Little pricey for this speed of RAM, but it's out of manufactoring so older RAM will tend to be little more than new memory. Much cheaper than having to purchase another computer though.

I purchased Komputerbay 2GB (2 X 1GB), to update my Windows XP desktop, which had 256 MB memory. The improvement was amazing. I was not familiar with this brand but the specs were what I needed. I will definitely recommend this brand.

I was excited to receive this memory for the lowest price available, because I'm cheap. I should have taken that as a warning sign. The memory was actual memory manufactured for the stated capacity, but that was all that was as advertised.
The chips were overstamped with a second set of markings. They were double-ranked, which is a legitimate step but shouldn't be necessary for modules of this size. Researching the original part number etched on the chips, I was able to determine that they were rated for a lower speed than the 333MHz that Komputerbay claimed. Memtest86 showed the memory to be absolutely full of errors--they came so fast and thick that the actual count was blurred on my screen. I wouldn't be surprised if the components used were pulled from the reject bin of the original manufacturer.
Amazon completely refunded my purchase price. My only regret: I wasn't able to mark these memory modules such that they couldn't be resold.
